The biggest problem I had was getting people to contribute articles for anything longer than a one page issue. Most of our one-pagers came out at the beginning of the semester much like your planning. If you're trying to make it an information oriented issue I'd definitely suggest a calendar of meetings and events scheduled in the fall. If new officers were elected at the end of the spring semester, a list of their names, phone numbers and/or email addresses might be nice. If you have room, include some background info on each one or even their picture. How about an article on services provided by the chapter? Do you sell disks? Maintain a software library? Provide software discount coupons? Run a tutoring service? If you're going for something a little longer, how about a bio sketch of a factulty member? An article reviewing some new hardware or software that's rescently been made availible to students in the department might interest those who don't know about it yet.
