No, there is no successor yet, but there are plans to produce either a sequel to the Distributed Systems book, or to make a thoroughly revised edition of it. In any case, the new material will consist of Butler Lampson's lectures on security architectures, Fred Schneider, Ozalp Babaoglu and Sam Toueg's material on theory of fault tolerance, clock synchronization, agreement, and broadcast, material from myself on distributed operating system internals, and, hopefully, everybody's revisions of the existing material. This book will probably not make it to the bookstores before the spring of 1992. Sape Mullender
