THE NEWCASTLE INFO SERVER (monthly posting)

For the benefit of newcomers to this newsgroup, I am posting this message
about the Newcastle info server. An info server is a program to retrieve
files from archives using electronic mail.

The archive of interest to this group contains public domain software for
ARM based systems (Archimedes, A3000, Rxxx etc), mainly put together from
Usenet postings and private submissions. It currently contains 340 files
with a total size of 44 megabytes. During the past month, the server
received a total of 5330 requests for files from this archive, and mailed
out a total of 769 megabytes of data in response.

To get the current contents of the archive, send a message to 
info-server@newcastle.ac.uk with the following content:

request: sources
topic: archimedes index
request: end

The index file also contains a lot of other useful information, such as
locations of other archives, and a trouble shooting guide.
