I always thought that this was a feature, at least on a 2000. The
gentle warning message (informative but not really indicating
a problem that you need to deal with) goes away without really
distracting you from whatever you were doing. I suppose they aren't
being clever enough about accelerated systems, where the box goes
away too quickly.
