Has anybody experience with the Cardinal 9600FAXmodem ?

It's a cheap internal 2400 modem with 9600 sendFAX, but
without v.42bis and MNP5. I'm especially interested in
whether the FAX could be used with software other than
the bundled, and the general quality of the modem.
