I am having similar problems. I am using BYU Telnet 2.3.4 and it works flawlessly under 6.0.7 on a Plus and a II and under 7.0 on a II but not on the Plus. I get an error (Unable to connect to host) and not a crash or anything drastic. This is the only thing keeping me from using 7.0 all the time.
