I tried building it and it compiled o.k. (after two tries), but when I tried to run latex on the sample document sample.tex, it generated one word per page. I have had no problems using TeX 2.93. As a side comment, I have been using dvix as a TeX previewer for a while now, and have had found it completely satisfactory.
