Message-ID: <436@aplcomm.JHUAPL.EDU> Date: 5 Jun 91 12:46:16 GMT Organization: JHU/APL, Laurel, MD Lines: 33 Hi, I posted a while ago asking about whether I needed to upgrade the BIOS from 1.00 in my Tandy 1000, and the reply from the net was a resounding YES!. Now I have attempted this, and I am having some trouble. I was told that the new BIOS (I got 1.1) simply replaces the ROM in board location U10 on the motherboard. I tried this, and the machine partially booted. It got to the point of printing the BIOS message from the ROMs on my hard drive card, but never seemed to access the new motherboard BIOS. I then tried putting the BIOS in for U09, then tryng them in both slots without the other ROM chips. Nothing worked. So my question now is what's wrong? Am I being misled that it's a simple ROM-for-ROM replacement? I recall being told a while ago by another Radio Shack person that it wasn't a simple 1-for-1 replacement. So, could some one (any one?) out there pass along some instructions as to the actual steps that are necessary in replacing these BIOS ROMs? Incidentally, the computer in question is an old Tandy 1000, the hard drive is from Hard Drive Specialist, and I am running a PCT 286 board in it.
