	    Basically I am sending large amounts of data across a
	    stream (Internet Domain) socket. Does buffering up the 
	    write help matters?

	    What's the internal overhead for writing a single byte
	    onto a socket? Is it sent acrossed immediatlety or
	    is it buffered?
