Subject: ALT keys ????????

Is there any way to gain access to the alt-keys under unix.
I think i need a new termcap entry or terminfo  entry.
I am using the getchar() function and it ignores F1-F12 and PGUP...
I need access to these keys.

Any suggestions would be appreciated..
