Lines: 23 Originator: rudolf@tummel I would like to find out what the chances are of using NeWS on non-Sun hardware. Essentially, it's the same as asking about the chances of using OpenWindows on non-Sun hardware. I have heard (at least second- hand) of two possibilities: 1) Sun has contracted out to third parties to port OpenWindows to other platforms. 2) While OpenWindows will be a part of SVR4, AT&T has apparently said that NeWS will be an optional part. Can anyone confirm or deny these rumors? Any light on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, -- Jim -- -------------------- Jim Rudolf The Turing Institute rudolf@turing.ac.uk
