This is because the delay in elections elsewhere will affect the deployment of security forces there. At least 33 were killed in clashes throughout the country following RG's assassination. Most of the incidents were in TN,AP and Tripura. Some DMK offices were burnt. In Tripura, Congress supporters set fire to houses of Communist supporters. Apart from this, at least 13 persons committed suicide after hearing the tragic news. Most of these cases were in TN. MAHARASHTRA: A major storm has erupted over Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's remarks that Gandhiji was responsible for partition and that Godse should be regarded as a patriot. Veteran CPI leader S.A.Dange died at the age of 91. He was given a state funeral by the Maharashtra government.
