An universal distress call from trekkies in Finland! Trekkies all over the world - your help is desperately needed! For a few days now sad news has been spreading among Finnish trekkies: the tv network "Kolmostv" (or TV3 in short) that has so far shown us Star Trek - The Next Generation has now canceled this programme entirely! This means no more Trek in Finland, because we only have three nation-wide tv channels, of which only TV3 has shown any interest in showing us Trek. Our situation is desperate! Before we saw all episodes a couple of years late (the season they showed us was the first), but now the very existence of Star Trek in Finland is in grave danger! TV3's decision isn't even based on low ratings, because the series is even quite popular here. It's just a whim of theirs which they call their 'normal programme policy'! Before The Next Generation they showed us The Original Series and then The Animated Series, so their current decision is totally inexplicable. TNG: TNG season 2 started Wednesday (April 3rd) at 6pm. This is NOT a DEFII program, it's just at 6pm on BBC2. They have previously shown The Invaders, The Invisible Man, The Man From UNCLE and TOS here. When 'The Invaders' was shown, it was a DEF II program, but STTNG is not techinically a DEF II program. STTNG is on before 'the watershead' (ie: before 9pm) they have been edited to make them U or 12 classification type programs (ie: all the gory bits have been taken out, like in Conspiracy or Hide and Q). Each episode is broadcast in mono. Ireland: TNG: RTE1 Saturday 19.05 GMT Lebanon/Middle East: TNG: METV 1800 Tuesday local time. Has been on for two years now. Before that the same time slot was used for several years for ST-TOS. Not only can this be seen in Lebanon, but also in Israel in places that are on NORTH sides of mountains in the the northern part of the country. From what the weather person on the station, METV, says, it can be received also in Syria, Cyprus, etc. World At Large: Trinidad & Tobago: TNG: About a year ago, the first season was being shown on Trinidad & Tobago Television (TTT) channels 2 & 13, on Saturday nights. Part of the TV station (located in Port-Of-Spain, Trinidad) was burnt down by Libyan-backed Muslim extremists in July 1990, so the current state of TNG is unknown. (Trinidad is the southernmost island of the Caribbean, just twelve miles east of Venezuela; it's an English-speaking former British colony.)
