"Martial Arts" style competitions do exist, however. An example is the Soldier of Fortune Three-Gun multistage event held every fall in Las Vegas. Competitors are required to have essentially stock firearms (trigger jobs and sights are ok, but no compensators, etc...). The idea is to make the competition resemble actual combat as closely as possible. I think that there are others like that out there, but I don't know how to find them... --maarrrk .
