One of my favorite areas in California for hunting and fishing is around
Butte City.  Many of the irrigation ditches have good bass fishing in the
spring.  Less than 2 miles up the Sacramento River, I caught shad until I
was tired of fishing 3 years ago.  I have seen some big sturgeon come out
of the river.  I have gotten my limit of both dove and pheasants on opening 
day.  The irrigation ditches are crowded with crayfish when the farmers
drain the rice fields.  I like this area.

Over the years, my family has become friends with the owners of the Butte
City Club.  My friends have decided to sell the bar.  If I owned a house
and had enough equity, I would be gone now.  This would be a great place
to retire.  The bar makes a very nice income.  Hunting and fishing are
within walking distance.  What a life.

widely known for it's hunting and fishing.
