Wednesday, 28 May, 1941

German bombers attack two Royal Navy destroyers off Ireland, sinking HMS
Mashona and leaving HMS Maori damaged.

Allied forces in Iraq occupy Ur in their advance toward Baghdad.

On Crete, German forces attack north toward Heraklion, giving the Allies
vital time to begin evacuations in the south.  The 4000 troops defending
Heraklion begin evacuating as well.
