I don't remember offhand who is responsible for the NASA Acronym List, but
I heard one on CNN today that certainly needs adding :

REM := Rat Enclosure Module   (No, really ... No Joke !)

Apparently that is the name of some kind of little glass cage with built-in
   water and food plus waste disposal mechanisms.  CNN mentioned it in passing
   as they reported that one of the thirty rats was 'bumped' from Columbia's
   flight due to malfunctions in the aformentioned REM !
