Some are transmit receive and some are transmit only. We are using a 4800 bps transmit only fax modem (and 2400 bps data transmit/receive) available from JDR Microdevices (408 559 1200) for $119.95. I'm sure you'll get lots of responses from others with their favorite fax cards. You also mentioned the AT&T Email capability to send faxes. I have received faxes that were generated this way wthru MCI Mail. I don't know about costs. We've just received stuff that way. We generally send stuff out thru fax modem if other end has a fax machine. If other end has Compuserve or MCI Mail, we send it thru internet connection on Cleveland Freenet. Good Luck!
