What local service monopoly? We're already seeing large companies working with fiber companies to bypass the local loop and go directly to the long-distance carriers and to their other offices. The cable companies would like to do the same for residence customers. In a few years, we'll see competition in all areas of the business with the RBOC's forced to keep prices higher than the rest until the share of their business is down quite a bit judging by the precident of AT&T.
