The HP sales people say the only differences between the printers are: -- paper feeding and size -- some speed (but not much for large rasters) -- interface options (serial and parallel for the XL) However, the xpr man page distinguishes between the printers, and if I read it correctly limits the PJ to 16 colors a line while not limiting the PJXL. I also read it as limiting the PJ to 90DPI in color, while both devices are supposed to be 190DPI. There are some other color issues as well. There must be some difference in the printers that the sales people are not telling me about. Can anyone elaborate? Incidentally, are there any better alternates in <$2K color printers? There was an article in inforworld the other week saying that 300dpi inkjet was about to be released at about the same price. Anyone know how far this is off? -- Ken Mandelberg | km@mathcs.emory.edu PREFERRED Emory University | {rutgers, gatech}!emory!km UUCP Dept of Math and CS | km@emory.bitnet NON-DOMAIN BITNET Atlanta, GA 30322 | Phone: Voice (404) 727-7963, FAX 727-5611
