We've had similar problems at our site (we've got the Laserwriters and PrinterServer 20's.  It turns out that there is a known bug in the PrintServer, and the last I heard (don't take this as official, call DEC customer support - I heard this through the grapevine) was that they were aware of the bug, but I didn't hear whether they were going to fix the problem.
