I have never had the need to use the filter program before but a friend
of mine is getting really nasty flames from someone and I suggested 
using filter to get rid of his messages.  I have read the filter instructions
and written a simple rules file.  However, what I want to know is,
is it necessary to run the filter program before going into elm or will
elm automatically do the filtering?
