The excuse I heard was that there is the same proportion of piracy in both the MS-DOS and the Amiga markets, but because the MS-DOS market is so big there's a lot more games being sold, so the software houses can afford to not put any key disk protection on the games. I know, there are some important flaws in the argument, but some people really think this way and use it as a justification for gronking your disk drives. My solution for HD installable games on the Amiga? Get the MS-DOS version and run it off the BridgeBoard :-)
