Message-ID: Date: 8 Jun 91 21:39:33 GMT Organization: Private Lines: 19 -- I bought some 1mb simms today and they only had 3 chips on them..same number of pinouts(30). I installed them in a GVPII HC+8 board and after setting the jumpers got the system running recognizing the extra (2mb) of ram. I next tried the memtest program on the GVPinstall disk that comes with the HC. This proceeded to check the memory fine for a while (pass 1) was ok when it came to pass 2 it gurued...repeatedly and would not boot even after turning the power off. I removed the simms and reinserted them and it works fine again..i have had a couple of guru's in general use and it reboot fine. Basically i am wonder what does the memcheck program do that could cause the simms to effectively become unusable or is it the fact that the simms i am using are a new type. jeff. +---------------------------------++----------------------------------------+ | Jeff Coleman || billy@mana.pub.uu.oz.au | | #include || ..!uunet!munnari.oz!eyrie!mana!billy | +---------------------------------++----------------------------------------+
