Message-ID: <7781@harrier.ukc.ac.uk> Date: 7 Jun 91 08:56:27 GMT Article-I.D.: harrier.7781 Organization: Computing Lab, University of Kent at Canterbury, UK. Lines: 23 I'm working on a contract which looks as though it'll need bitmapped colour graphics (256 shades). I'd hoped to make do with other people's images, but the workaround to do this is getting ridiculous - I need to be able to generate my own. However - there are lots of packages out there, and I can't afford to buy one which turns out to be a dog... to give some idea, PixelPaint Professional (which looks about the best to my inexperienced eye) lists after tax in the UK at just over 580 /pounds/ - over $1000? I want to build fancy buttons, arrows and so on, rather than creating pictures or modifying colour photographs. I'm using a IIsi with 5 meg but no coprocessor, loads of hard disk space but running - gulp - system 7; so compatibility is vital. If anyone with experience of state-of-the-art 8-bit packages could advise me what to buy, I'd much appreciate it! - duncan ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- duncan langford university of kent at canterbury, UK dl1@ukc.ac.uk -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
