Naturally I upgraded straight off from 3.2b12. Here are some impressions from a couple of days of use. First the pluses: Text entry is noticeably faster--back up to 3.1 speeds, in fact! Even scrolling in 8-bit mode seems faster on my vintage II. Extending the selection using shift and the arrow keys now correctly autoscrolls in both directions. *And* when you reverse direction and try to reduce the selection, it doesn't suddenly start extending it from the other end. Bravo! Command-shift-left- and right-arrows now extend the selection to the beginning and end of the line respectively. At last! Context switching under MultiFinder is noticeably quicker. I guess it must be doing less in between each call to WaitNextEvent. Nice. Now the minus: In the beta versions of 3.2, I could use the "Clear" key on the numeric keypad to delete the character following the insertion point. The release 3.2 no longer supports this, and the release notes make it clear that this only works with the extra "Delete" key on the extended keyboards. For shame! I don't have an extended keyboard, and don't see the need to pay for function keys just to get this capability. Is there any patch I can apply to get this feature back?
