I tried a simple (whap!) fix from MacWeek, and it works.  Just use Font/DA
Mover 4.1 (for System 7) - open the offending suitcase; copy all to a new
suitcase; close; and you're there.  Sometimes the simplest are the best.

BTW - I tried the zoomrects fix posted here, and it works fine so far.
