I've been having some problems piping files with tip.  I want to use sz/rz to
transfer files using tip however when I try to use either ~$ or ~| I get:
(Just Grimace> is my remote prompt, the system is VMS)

Just Grimace> ~$Local command? echo "!hello there!"
csh: Permission denied
                      away for 0 seconds
!
[back at the VMS command prompt]


Just Grimace> ~Local command? cat
List command for remote system? csh: Permission denied
dir
0 lines transferred in 0 seconds
!
USERDISK1:[S3LMGEB]
[ ... ] [DIR command completes normally]

I have used the ~! ~t ~p ~c ~. ~^D ~^Z ~s ~? and (I think) ~< and ~>
commands successfully.  TFM was no help.  Command permissions are:

~ % ls -l /usr/bin/tip /bin/csh
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root       98304 Aug 16  1989 /bin/csh*
-rws--x--x  2 root       40960 Sep  6  1989 /usr/bin/tip*

-----------  An unrelated question:

    Where is segedit supposed to be?  Whereis turned up only the man page and
find by root of root turned up empty on both my hard drive and (what I thought
was) the original OD.  It is the only thing which has turned up absent so far
in my FIRESALE cube.  Anyone willing to mail me a 1.0a executible?  As I
understand things I have license to have it (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong).
