So far the consensus is that in a home environment - the cubes 330 Meg. Maxtor is loud. Yes, the OD is loud when it seeks - I should have said: with the OD, and the new filter, the NeXT fan/OD makes appreciably more noise. I have tried various methods to 'quiet' the MaXtor - none have worked. Loud is relative though - I live in the middle of the woods - no car noises - no neighbors - just the crickets and me.
