I'll try and describe my setup with Excel and Winword as examples. Some directory info: Windows d:\windows Winword d:\winword Excel e:\excel Path on entering windows (something like): c:\;c:\dos;c:\utilitys;d:\windows;d:\windows\utilitys;d:\windows\pif e:\memacs Note that this does not include either winword or excel In the extensions part of Win.ini, I have the following: doc=d:\winword\winword.exe xl?=d:\excel\excel.exe I also have usher set up to run excel and winword with the complete path name defined. As a result, if I run either from my shell (usher), the full path info is available, so I don't have a problem. If I double click on an icon, then windows knows the full path, so that isn't a problem either. On the other hand, I do have a problem with memacs, which insists on being in the path, and grumbles about not being able to find its various .cmd files if it isn't in the path. Hope this helps, kartik -- Anant Kartik Mithal akm@cs.uoregon.edu Research Assistant, (503)346-4408 (msgs) Department of Computer Science, (503)346-3989 (direct) University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403-1202
