Following the discussion of the LS3/5a speakers can anyone  point
me in the direction of information on the BBC LS5-2 speaker systems.

The speakers stand around twelve inches off the floor, utilise a bass-reflex
design with 15" bass driver with roll-rubber surround. There are two hi-
frequency drivers in each cabinet.  The speakers are probably not an original
pair as the tweeters are different, one cabinet has two hi-frequency drivers
with a silver-painted paper or cloth diaphragms while the other cab has two
different tweeters with diaphragms of differing appearance, one is obviously
a resin impregnated material but the other is black but probably also made of
the same material. 

I suspect the system is of quite old design as there is an illustration
of a very similar looking speaker in an book on sound studio practise dating
from the late sixties. 

What I am considering is 

1) Replacing the tweeters (or the diaphragms if available ) to create a
   more closely matched mid-high frequency response.

2) Mounting mono power-amp blocks on the little shelves underneath (which
   have fittings for the old Quad multi-pin speaker connections).

Any advice welcome especially regarding the availability of replacement 
parts or manufacturer.
