I suppose that someone should point out that in order for this to work, the pins on your dot-matrix job would have to be less than 1/10 mm in diameter. At that diameter, whatever they were made of would have to be pretty stiff in order to push the ribbon (under tension) down to the platen hard enough to print, without buckling. Do a quick reality check on your friendly neighborhood 9-pin printer. Now there are probably fancy-font programs around that will drive 9-pin printers, but they won't give you 300 dpi.
