I'm not currently reading comp.databases, so if anyone from there responds, please send Email to steve@violet.berkeley.edu. (Also, I'll be on vacation for a few days and will acknowledge any responses when I return.) I'm converting a database from McMax to FoxBase because McMax isn't compatible with the new system 7. I decided to get the networked version of FoxBase as long as I was changing over. I have upgraded only one Mac in our network to system 7; the one on which the FoxBase version of the database resides. Yesterday, I experimented with file sharing between the system 7 Mac and a Mac running system 6.04. I had no problem. Then I went back to the Mac on which the database resides. I found that I was denied access to many of the program files. I removed the file sharing from the folder (though it is still possible to connect remotely). I issued the command "UNLOCK" at the FoxBASE command prompt. Yet when I try to open those program files, I get a box saying "File Access Denied." Has anyone else had this experience or do you know what is causing this behavior? I'm sure there's a simple explanation, but I haven't found it yet. Thanks for any suggestions.
