We have had, over the last 8 years several different PICK platforms. One machine was a Honeywell DPS 6 running the Ultimate version of PICK. It had 1 Gigabyte of disk, and we routinely ran saves and restores (while we still cared about the machine :-). The full backup and restore took a little over 15 hours (with a lot of rebuilding). Memory and disk speed were the bottlenecks, not the CPU. Our most recent machine is an ADDS Mentor 7000 Model 5/30, with an 8 mm backup. It can do a 2 Gigabyte save and restore in just under 8 hours. And since thats all on one tape (!), the restore is un-attended. We are now heading towards universe, which doesn't even need saves/restores. To the fellow who started the Save/Restore thread: I'm curious to know the exact hardware and file system configuration: the times you quoted seemed outrageous!
