Subject: newlines in waterloo c

Has anyone out there used waterloo c under cms (I know, but I didn't
choose the operating system).  I am using fgetc() to read files but
cannot seem to get newlines recognized.  Is there some trick?  What's
interesting is that I have a program I have compiled under Turbo C,
Microsoft 5.0, and on several varieties of UNIX systems and it works
on all except this damn cms system with waterloo.  I'm starting to
feel like Napolean.
