When I did I saved about 10meg in wasted space but I had to change all D: references to C: in all the .INI files and in Program Manager's group files (the latter done tediously, one icon at a time. Maybe those Mac guys are right.) When you make these changes you'll also have to rebind the icons to your non-Windows programs.
