I can't believe ]HP actually wrote this driver without provisions for cartridge fonts! Can ]we modify the driver so that it will use the Prestige Elite cartridge fonts ]like the DeskJet family driver provided with Win 3.0? Do I need extra RAM ]for Window's drivers? I don't currently have an application for Win 3.0 ]that creates Math, Greek, Linedraw, etc. fonts. I've only been able to play ]a little with the Write utility in Win 3.0. I can't help you with your cartridge fonts, but may be there is a workaround. I use Adobe Type Manager and this *really* is a hit. Even if you only have your standard fonts (Helvetica, Times, Symbol, Courier), there are still lots of fonts in the various BBS, ready to be loaded down. With ATM you have all (ATM-)Fonts within (almost) all Windows apps. I use them with Winword and Excel. It works just fine. Talking about Excel: When I print from Excel 3.0 on my DJ500, I have to reconfigure my printer EVERY session. Just click on 300dpi, and it works. If I don't do that, I get a blank sheet of paper (at most the gridlines), instead of my spreadsheet. Does anybody know a better way to avoid this problem ? It seems to be a problem with the DJ(500)-driver, 'cause it works on a Paintjet and a Laserjet.
