When a PC application performs file locking operations
using the int21 function 5C (NOT interrupt 5C), PC-NFS
implements the operation by issuing RPCs to the rpc.lockd
daemon on the NFS server. The best description of how
all this works is in the X/Open "(PC)NFS Developer's
Specification", which is obtainable from X/Open Company
in the UK, US, and Japan. (Contact X/Open for local
distribution arrangements in Australia.) Disclaimer:
I was on the team that wrote the book (but I don't get
any royalties!).
