Message-ID: <1991Jun13.025507.10000@massey.ac.nz> Keywords: 8051 Organization: Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand X-Reader: NETNEWS/PC Version 2.1 Date: Thu, 13 Jun 91 02:55:07 GMT Hi I've written an assembler for the Intel 8051 and it currently produces just the Intel Hex file as its output. A friend who has the NOHAU 8051 simulator would like to be able to download the assembler labels information from the program being assembled into the the simulator. I'm quite happy to add this for him but have no idea (at all) of the mechanism used to download the symbolic information. I'm familiar with the Intel hex format file for downloading executable code but how do you download the assembler labels and their addresses? Is this an extension to the hex file, a separate file or is there a standard format used for this purpose? Any help, references would be much appreciated.
