I'm getting the following error from the newest GCC:


gcc -v -O -DTIMELOCK -DCHECKAT=15 -DDEFTIME=300 -DSYSV    -c menubar.c -o menubar.o
gcc version 1.40

... anyone know what would be causing this?  I also noticed that the version
of the gcc-cpp is 1.39 and not 1.40, is that supposed to be that way?  I got
this binary distribution from csvax.cs.caltech.edu in the directory /pub/3b1.

Any help would be appreciated... thanks.
