Message-ID: <1991Jun13.233136.9742@fithp> Date: 13 Jun 91 23:31:36 GMT Distribution: usa Organization: Weinstein Consulting Lines: 27 I'm having a number of problems with mailx, originally received from THE STORE!. First, there are times when I'll receive a number of mail messages from different systems, yet the display of messages (from the 'h' command) will show some messages coming from the wrong systems. I think it happens only with two consecutive messages - mailx will show both messages as coming from the sender of the first message. The Subject displayed is always correct, though. I think it's especially sensitive to smail-type messages, where the message header contains multiple reply fields (eg - both a From: field and a Reply-To: field). The second problem is coupled with heavy I/O activity on a tty. When typing my mail messages, characters, or entire lines, can be lost and don't show up in the message - it's as if I never typed them, yet they showed up on the screen as I was typing. For instance, if I'm receiving netnews batches on my tty, even at 2400 baud, I'll notice I made a mistake in my mail message and I'll do a ~v to enter vi. To my shock and surprise, half the message I typed in has disappeared - lines are truncated, etc. It's as if mailx had gone to sleep and ignored half my input. Has anyone seen these problems? -- Marc Weinstein {simon,royko,tellab5}!linac!fithp!mhw Elmhurst, IL -or- {internet host}!linac.fnal.gov!fithp!mhw
