What's wrong >with this picture? The way you are looking at it! Seriously. You are correct that it takes $300 (list price; $225 street price) to make the Amiga display look like VGA. HOWEVER, how much money does it take to make your VGA do what the Amiga does --- generate NTSC video signals? A lot more than $225, I'll bet! The Amiga's chipset was optimized for certain things, and therefore makes sacrifices in other areas.
