Message-ID: <43193@cup.portal.com> Date: 12 Jun 91 03:27:23 GMT Distribution: na Organization: The Portal System (TM) Lines: 35 Our company is ordering some boxes. Since we started from scratch (literally from nothing), we have more than a little sympathy for small developers trying to get started. When we started, dealers were still willing to put products on their shelves which were good quality, but not in pretty packaging. That has changed. And in the Amiga market, recently many dealers won't take anything less than professional packaging now, regardless of the quality of the software. So, for some time now, I've been toying with the idea of a small developers' consortium. Since most places require minimum $300 - $1000 orders on packaging goodies, printing, binders, etc. the little guy testing the market has to spend at least $3,000 just to get the inventory to get started. For some this is impossible. Well, I have absolutely no free time to give to organizing such a group, as worthy as the cause might be. But there is a way we might give something. Since we're ordering boxes anyway, I thought I'd see if anyone has a need. This is NOT a case of trying to get people together to make our order. We've arranged the purchase already. It's more a case of trying to give a few people a leg up. There's so much talent out there that will benefit the Amiga community. The box is a 'setup box'. Like a candy box with a bottom and lid that fits completely over the bottom, with white semi-glossy stock. It's about 7.5" x 9.25" x 2" deep. A ggood size for dealers' shelves. It can be covered with a printed sheet, or wraparound cover, or stickers, or whatever you wish, to personalize it. I'd be willing to increase our order if anyone wants a small number (these come in minimums of 500, or 250 if you REALLY twist their arms), but we could add in minimums of 50 is anyone is interested The price would be around $3.00 each plus a small shipping charge, less if there is a lot of interest. We probably can't offer this too often. It takes extra time to split out the stuff for other people and reship it, but we thought we'd try it once and see how it works (we're not interested in being a small order reselling business, we're busy enough just publishing software). Email if you have interest/questions, post if you have thoughts on the general subject. Julie LadyHawke@cup.portal.com portal!cup.portal.com!LadyHawke
