Distribution: usa Hi. Recently I encountered interesting problem with a hard drive. My brother has 286 clone. Few days ago I run Norton's sysinfo on his machine and found that HD has 26 kbytes/s transfer rate. Closer inspection of machine showed that ut has ST251 MFM hard drive and WD1002A-27X controller. CMOS entry for a hard drive type is (machine has AWARD BIOS). If I put correct setting there, during reboot it says:Error initializing HD controller 0. Now fun part begins. The specs for ST251 say that it has 820 cyls, 6 heads and 17 s/track. It amounts to 42Mb. But all testing programs report that HD has 1024 cyls(52Mb). And a lot of cyls above 820 are used by files!!! Actually HD is almost full. If you know anything about this problem, please reply. +----------------------------------+--------------------------------+ | Dmitry Teytelman (718)252-7708 | Design a system that even | | Internet: h90si@cunyvm.cuny.edu | fool can use and only fool | | Bitnet: h90si@cunyvm | will use it. | +----------------------------------+--------------------------------+
