After my panic, I opened up the machine, jiggled the drive and rehung the drive above it (2 hard drives...a sts251 type 44 40Mb and a sts125 type 2 20Mb)since it seemed to have settled ontop of the 40Mb - hung with rubberbands - didn't have the rails (I'll put my flame proof suit on for that :-)) anyhow, when I rehung the 20 and moved it away from the 40, lo and behold, it worked. Obviously my C drive is the 40. Could the physical contact between the two drives have caused the problem? I could get to the 20 when I booted from a floppy but I couldn,t get to the 40. Any Ideas?
