Message-ID: <1991Jun14.092538.5480@vax5.cit.cornell.edu> Date: 14 Jun 91 09:25:38 EDT Distribution: comp Organization: CIT, Cornell University Lines: 20 The other day I was poking around with HD SC setup (is that the right name? its the setup program on the disk tools disk that comes with the mac) and decided what the hell, lets look at what the partitions button does. I was surprised to see an analysis of the partitions existing on my drive (I had made NONE myself). My LC w/40 mb hard drive turned out to have 16k devoted to a partition for the mac driver (ok, that makes sense), 40,000k devoted to Macintosh HD (obviously), and 992k devoted to Apple_Free(!) This "Apple_Free" thing also appears not to be used, judging from the way its presented graphically, but that seems open to interpretation. Well, 992k isn't so much, but then again, I do only have a few Mb free and while getting an extra Mb on my disk wouldn't forestall an eventual second drive, it wouldn't hurt either. So my question is, what can I do with these 992k? Can I just expand the Macintosh HD partition into them or are they actually taboo? Kazys Varnelis YM3Y@vax5.cit.cornell.edu
