A while back MacWEEK rumoured Apple would support Appletalk over asynchronous
links by the end of the year.

It's only a rumour though...

If you have a Webster MultiPort Ethernet/LocalTalk gateway you can use AsyncAppleTalk.

There's also the Shiva NetBridge.

I dont know if either of these are 7.0 ready yet.
