New NeXTs are in prototype that have a Moto 88110 that runs at 50-60 MIPS. The chip can handle some DSP and should cost the same as current NeXTs. It will also come with a Moto 96002 compression chip that handles all of the functions of the NeXTdimension board. That means they will drop the i860 and C-Cube compresstion chip. I don't know what form the machine will be in. The article says they have a prototype NextStation which triples the performance of the black cube. From this statement, I assume infoworld are just idiots. len
