Is PC Oracle slower than other databases in it's class? I've used dbase
III+ file formats (with C libraries) and programs run reasonably fast.

Under the PRO-C interface to the Oracle engine, my applications crawl. 

Is there another database for PC's in the same class as Oracle that goes
faster?
