Lines: 21 I am looking for a communications program which runs as a Windows application and supports a server mode for file transfers. I would also like to have DDE capability so that I can set up a hot link to another application and be notified when a call has been received and files transfered to the hard disk. Does such an animal exist? What is the closest I can get? An alternative is a communications program with server mode but without DDE. I would then have to have another application or add it my main application to check the directories for new files on a timed basis. With a V32/V42.bis modem the transfer rate between the modem and PC can be as high as 38.4 kbs. Is there more than a snow ball's chance in hell that this can be supported with a Windows application? What is the convention wisdom on the fastest effective transfer rates which can be supported? -- Jim Vallino Siemens Corporate Research, Inc., Princeton, NJ jrv@demon.siemens.com princeton!siemens!demon!jrv (609) 734-3331
